"Age of the Five" Trilogy
« on: February 02, 2010, 07:41:22 PM »

Trudi Canavan.

A brilliant author. I loved this series of books, while the plot was not very original and quite obvious what was going to happen, I feel like it was implemented in a brilliant way, a bit like what many people are saying about the film "Avatar".

It had a nice contrast in the characters, a nice twist of flavours, in the first book with the main character being extremely powerful with magic, and a later important character having little to no magical ability but instead really intelligent.

I also really enjoyed the clash of cultures and religion, a nice reflection of real life, so many religions being so similar yet despising each other.

This trilogy also held a resemblance to her other trilogy, "The Black Magician" set of books.

What do you guys think of this trilogy? Would you recommend it to others?
