[This is a Draft! I wrote this in notepad, still editing for spelling and grammar.]
Current times and days undecided. Probably will be early in the week.

Introduction to universe -

System is modified 3.5 Advanced DnD

Changes to the Main 3.5 system:

Magic Circuits -
Spells per day replaced with Magic Circuits. Spells cost 10 x spell level magic circuits. Circuits cool down and recharge by 25 per 10 minutes out of combat and after last spell use.
Magic Circuits are biological and overuse will cause burnout. If a player continues to use magic when they are out of circuits they will begin taking damage equal to the number they dip
below 0. Players also have a 25 percent chance to simply collapse unconscious every time they cast a spell while burned out.
 

Awakenings -
If a player performs an action while the odds are so against them that death is nearly certain, or the player experiences a super traumatic event in character the DM may ask for them to make an awakening roll. Depending on the situation they will be asked to make "X" number of D20 rolls. If any of them is a natural 20 the player will receive a permanent EX Spell or EX Perk. Rolling a 1 at any point will end the awakening chance.

The player will NEVER know when there is an opportunity to receive an awakening.



Level EX Spells -
Extremely powerful spells that will consume all remaining Magic Circuits. The more circuits used the more powerful the spell.
Here's a few examples of what you can get.

Cherubic Grace (EX): This spell cannot be interrupted by an attack of opportunity(foes may still make them to deal damage). Grants + 5 Divine Armor Class while active. The player gains 2 sets of massive white angel wings. Knocks back all enemies within 10 yards. Allows the user to fly as a free action (10 yards per second). The user may cast healing spells level 6 or lower for free while spell is active. Lasts for 6 seconds + 6 seconds per 10 magic circuits spent. Spell casts cannot fail for the duration of the spell. Requires a faith with angels in its lore to activate. Player falls unconscious when spell ends.

Andilian Morphing (EX Perk): The player may touch an alive nonhuman creature and assume it's shape while still retaining their human mind. Morph lasts up to 2 hours before it fades automatically. May be deactivated at will. Morphing takes 6 seconds and provokes attacks of opportunity.

Story start date:
February 15th 2017

Starting Location:
Twin Pine, Florida [Mid sized town with a few businesses around, 1 community college, and then general workings of a metro town. Located on the eastern edge of the panhandle. Known for being insignificant.]

Story Introduction:
Lives are going as normal for our heroes, until one day they all discover something special about their current town of residence. Simple knowledge of what they're about to discover sends them out of their daily routine lives into one where it's kill or be killed in a very real and dangerous world of magic, corruption, and ever looming threats that threaten not only their lives, but the world as well.

Our story begins with the unnatural collapse of the local town hall in the middle of the previous night. The area is quickly shut off from the public by federal agents. Rumors are trending on social media that the collapse wasn't natural, and people are making notes of two unidentified individuals that were in the area as the disaster happened.



What to expect as a player:
First off you're not going to have a clue what's going on. It is up to you the player to explore parts of the story you find interesting.

This is going to be a fairly dark adventure when it concerns the main plot. To avoid the story becoming a tragedy you're going to have to work together with your party members to take down the various threats presented to you by joining up characters you may meet.

There will be more puzzles and general adventuring than combat. Combat is a big deal in this universe and is very dangerous. It is recommended players do not provoke unnecessary fights.
 
Remember police have guns and swat gear if you decide to go off the rails. There's nothing stopping you from terrorizing the populace, but not even you can survive a full police raid on your location for very long. You are still for the most part normal humans.

Players will progress their personal character stories by coming up with goals as they go through the main story and get a feel for the world. I do not expect players to have an ending they're hoping for with their character at any point.

Neither players or the characters around them will be treated as "Main" characters. The closest thing to a main character will be the world itself. How much the players impact that world is ultimately up to them.

Players will receive their most beneficial character bonuses through story events rather than statically leveling up.

Side quests are available for players at all times they wish to do them. Simply ask the DM.

Solo adventures are available if Ari is around and has time. You must ask me if you wish to do one.

PLAYERS ARE EXPECTED TO ROLEPLAY ACTIVELY AND STAY IN CHARACTER

Above all else try your best to have fun!

The story will be divided into 3 acts and a 4th true ending act with a massive difficulty jump if players want to take it. Each act will take 3 to 6 play sessions to get through. Expect this adventure to last 1 full season.

Act 1 will introduce the players to each other if they don't already now each other. It will also introduce the first major characters they're going to run in to.

Act 2 will start to get into the meat of the story, most of which will be teased at the end of act 1.

Act 3 will act as the finale and what happens here is completely shaped by the players choices in the last 2 acts.

True ending will [Redacted] in short don't expect survival. Any forgiveness on the DM's part will be gone. I WILL be activly trying to kill you. This means healers focused, unfair abilities (Meteor swarm will look like a wet noodle), no reminders to spot check rooms or hints on how to progress.

Bio: Corporal James Brannon, or Jim to his friends, joined the force for one simple reason, to help people.  After the academy, he served in a city force as part of the dog squad, working under greedy, incompetent and jaded superiors and navigating the turbulent world of office politics. His partner was a large German Shepard named Skip. Together Jim and Skip were an inseparable team, each knowing without command or motion what the other was thinking and what needed to be done.

That ended roughly a year ago. Jim and skip were ordered to an armed robbery, a lone gunman at an convenience store, a situation that they had dealt with several time before. However the intel on the situation was wrong, and a second perp got the drop on them. Skip was shot and killed at the scene. Jim managed to arrest one of the perps while the other got away. No charges stuck however, the perp was the son of a local businessman out for a thrill. A few days later, the commissioner had a new Mercedes and Jim was demoted to "keep out of trouble".

Soon after, Jim moved to Twin Pines to get away from the city and its corrupt officials in search of a more peaceful life. Weary and jaded, Jim now serves on the Twin Pines police force as a street cop.

Bio: Peter Chiew has, by and large, led a mostly ordinary life coming out of an ordinary background. In his early teens, he picked up Wing Chun for fitness and physical discipline, and while his career does not allow him to formally compete, he still has more than a decade and a half of the physical conditioning and martial training it entails.

He is devout and orthodox about his faith, and simply accepts the existence of the supernatural, despite having a thoroughly scientifically based education in an environment where religion was overtly sneered at as superstitious nonsense. This has led him to be generally cold and distrustful toward others and have difficulty with non-professional interactions. He is generally cyincal towards authority figures as well,  having seen financial and ethical corruption occurring in both work and the Church.

The comissioning of his last big project, a pesticides production plant a short distance from Twin Pine, Florida, has just been completed successfully. The decision on whether his firm will have enough work in the area to maintain the Twin Pine branch office, or whether it will be shut down and the staff transferred is still pending, and the staff are all working light hours and short weeks until the verdict is handed down.

Bio: Born and raised north of Seattle in Oak Harbor Washington.  She was an average athlete in both volleyball and soccer. But her true passion was in technology like her parents.  At the age of 13 Tabaxia was able to join the Civil Air Patrol where she fell in love with Mechanical Engineering and Computers.  That training allowed her to work at her Fathers shop at Boeing until she was 18 when she joined the Air Force.  After 2 deployments overseas and advance training with drone technology, she left the Airforce.   She joined Boeing for their hardware development and worked alongside with her father until their deaths 2 years later due to a road accident which she felt was never the true cause.  Shortly after, she lost the her rights to 2 patents she held, which were granted to Boeing.  Tabaxia felt it was time for a change.  She was contacted by some old military friends who she grew up with.  Asked to relocate to Twin Pines Florida to come work on an independent project.  This was all two years ago. 

Tabaxia’s faith was more in the believing in a higher power.  Raised in a Christian / Buddhist home, her faith was never a pressing issue.  Just knowing that something more was all her father pressed onto her.  But she did take a fancy to the supernatural and unexplained as a teen and in her free time she would enjoy reading up on such dealings.

Tabaxia’s training in the Civil Air and Air Force allows her to be a well balanced team member.  Playing off the strengths of others and allowing to keep a cool head with others around.  Her only fear is to be left along without anyone to assist her.  The “Go out and do it on your own” always made her shutter. 

Her time in Twin Pines was a quite one.  Mainly work and rest was all she did in the past two years.  She lived near her shop and always ate in the same area.  She was friendly and well known and always kept trinkets and tools near her.  She would pass her time helping others with mechanic issues and enjoyed the Pie at a local diner just down the street where many locals enjoyed the very same pie.

Bio: Joshua Kane was born and raised in Southern Wisconsin to a working-class family. Growing up, Joshua learned the value of charm, persuasion, and luck at a young age, always managing to acquire things that someone of his social stature would never have. Although Joshua was barely above average in academics, he was always infuriated by his teachers and parents telling him he had to apply himself more if he ever wanted to amount to anything. Obviously due to my sudden hiatus this was put on hold. If people are still interested, then I'll start this back up with a new start date when I get back later this month. On the plus side every major story event is at the very least outlined in ye old dead tree format adventure folder. I've had a lot of time to myself with the inability to be on the internet, so I've been writing... a lot. The 2 introduction adventures have been completely rewritten to be less railroady than I originally had them, so I'm trusting the players to actually try to roleplay and learn the setting. I also have about 15 side quests at least bullet pointed if not completely written.

I also have a few ideas drafted for a follow up campaign if this is something people want to keep doing after she gets started. These are obviously not even outlined yet, but some of them are starting to look really good.

Bio: Daniel was only 2 years old when his parents emigrated to America to start a business. Taking his self-reliant work ethic and strong religious bent from them, Daniel revealed a prodigious intellect at an early age, enjoying taking spare odds and ends from around the house to combine into complex and fanciful “inventions”. As he grew up, Daniel nurtured this hobby alongside more conventional childhood pasttimes like baseball and video games, and the devices he created became more and more impressive. At the same time, his tendency to speak bluntly and see the world in absolutes hindered his socializing at school, and by the time he graduated at 17 he had already decided that he would eschew further formal education in favour of starting his own workshop.

Knowing that dissuading their son would be nigh impossible, his parents gave him their blessing and a sizable chunk of starting capital in lieu of a college fund. Daniel quickly set about preparing the workshop of his dreams in his humble suburban rental, patenting a number of promising devices within his first year. However, cracking the market has proved harder than he first thought; several times his inventions have been beaten to the punch while waiting for patent approval, others have run up against infeasible manufacturing costs, and for many his potential investors have simply failed to see the same fabulous opportunity in his designs that he does. Now almost 4 years into his career as a self-made man, on the eve of his 21st birthday, Daniel is on the verge of having to pack up his workshop and move back in with his parents - in his eyes, almost more shameful than he can bear.

Custom Items: Handheld Winch - A dull metal tube resembling a can of deoderant, a depressable section at each end pops out to reveal a metal hook. The interior of the tube contains a tightly-wound cable of patented design and extreme tensile strength, along with a surprisingly powerful compact motor. Either end of the cable can be hooked around whatever Daniel fancies and then played out up to 200 feet; one button on the tube will lock the cable at its current length, while 2 others will retract it from one side or the other. The most significant flaw of the device is it’s short battery life; running the powerful motor will drain the device after 1d4+2 uses.

PWR-PAK - Another Zorko invention which stalled on its way to market, the PWR-PAK is a black box the size and weight of a cinder block. The exterior is solid baked plastic with a plethora of ports and cables dotted haphazardly across it, only a few of which appear to be labeled. It usually resides inside Daniel’s backpack, so only a few people have seen more than a glimpse of it. The heavy and resilient box encases an incredibly efficient heavy duty capacitor, which, thanks to some unique engineering, can accept or distribute its charge along any of the device’s connections, even simultaneously if necessary. This means that, with a little jury rigging, Daniel can use the PWR-PAK to drain or recharge most electrical devices.
The drawback here is the haphazard nature of the connections - if Daniel tries to connect the PAK to any device he has not previously retrofitted for such use, there is a 20% chance of a minor electrical failure, either in the PAK itself or the device. The process normally takes 5 minutes - Daniel can do it as fast as one, but this increases the chance of failure to 50%, with a 20% chance of major disaster. He doesn’t like to do this unless he has to.
