About Sikh's carrying their Kirpan
« on: May 08, 2013, 05:23:13 AM »

Just a quick FYI - In episode 7 you briefly mentioned about Sikh's carrying a Kirpan. There is another social group that can also carry a blade... The Scots. We are allowed to carry our Skean dhu in appropriate situations too. Now personally I only take my REAL Skean Dhu to private functions where carry a blade would not be a risk. To public functions I either wear a plastic fake. Or nothing.

Actually recently when I've been in kilt hiring shops they are apparently legally obliged to rent only plastic / just hilts. Plus while I think it's all fun and games having a dagger in your sock, it's a laugh, it's not worth the risk.

Maybe rental places do, but for my wedding for example, even in England, I was ok to carry my Skean Dhu, since I was in my full get up.
