“Geek I/O! Episode 17: w/ Tom Merritt - “I thought I recognized those pew pews”

Welcome to Geek IO episode 17, recorded Wednesday 1st of May 2013!

I’m your host CJ Boat,  I’m Jarred Azevedo, I’m Rachel Boat, I’m Jared Budlong, and I’m Jonathan Slater.

Joining us this week: Author of Chronology of Tech History, 9th Degree Tech-Belt in the fine art of Tech Guru for Tech News Today, Slayer of Internet Trolls, master rater of frames, CES master -  Tom Merritt

Geek out with the guest(s) about their stuff!

G3:Gadgets, Games & Gizmos or whatever we have been playing with this week

CJ Boat - GoComics app, Night Attack 2, Bluestacks

Jarred Azevedo - Regular Show, serious nerd stuff (writing a PHP MVC library, because why not?)

Rachel Boat - Scored “B’s” in both my Bio Lab and Lecture class (WhAT?!) and an “A” in MATH (Wait?!), decided to take two courses over the summer semester (Intro to Computers and Programming & Abnormal Psychology), going to take the required ‘general knowledge’ exam over the summer - graduate in July (right after my birthday) AND then onto my BS degree in Elementary Education.  Playing Plague Inc trying to make the world zombies!

Jared Budlong - I rearranged my desk, and mounted a third (yes a third) monitor. Re-Flashed the OEM ROM on my Note.

Jonathan Slater - Heavy Rain, re-watched ‘how to deal with youtube trolls’ featuring Tom, Veronica, Wil Wheaton, and Felicia Day on youtube, played an awesome indy game called “Don’t take it personally, babe, it just ain’t your story.” If you love Japanese drama/romance games then this game is for you. Slater has a hot date for Saturday. (Oooh!)

Tom - Linux Mint. Just installed on the machine I used to run Ubuntu on... drooooool.

DALE'S REVIEW

RANT & REVIEW
Title: Son In Law

Suggested By: Rachel (for Pauly Shore Month)

Movie can be seen: Amazon & Youtube for $1.99

Movie Synopsis: Having gotten a taste of college life, a drastically changed farm girl returns home for Thanksgiving break with her best friend, a flamboyant party animal who is clearly a fish out of water in a small farm town.

Release Date: July 2 1993

Main Actors/Actresses:
Pauly Shore as Crawl
Carla Gugino as Rebecca Warner
Lane Smith as Walter Warner
Cindy Pickett as Connie Warner
Mason Adams as Walter Warner Sr.
Patrick Renna as Zack Warner
Dan Gauthier as Travis

Trivia:
The original setting in the early drafts of the script was Fargo, North Dakota.

Crawl was originally named Snake in the first draft of the script.

The Green Jello/Green Jelly  song “Electric Harley House Of Love” can be heard when the students are first moving into their dorm rooms. This isn’t the first comedic movie to feature their music. In fact they were also a big part of “Dumb & Dumber” with their song ‘The Bear Song’ during the burger scene.

Well Known Quotes:
Becca: [about her first tattoo] I want something feminine.
Tattoo Artist: [beat] He's standing right next to me.

Crawl: Hey, you'll be happy to know that as soon as you left, I popped your daughter's trunk!
Walter: Oh, shit.
