In 1837 the word “Feminism” was coined, and as the oxford dictionary describes it, a feminist is “an advocate or supporter of the rights and equality of women”. This fitted extremely well during the cultural movement towards equality in the workplace around the time of world wars where women began working in jobs other than stereotypical roles such as wet nurses or housewives. During the western movement, called second-wave feminism, Women began working in munition factories, and onto the sixties in offices, banks, etc and began working in what was stereotypically and traditionally male roles. Nowadays there are very few jobs that are not shared by men and women, education is arguably as freely available to women as to men, and it’s not uncommon to see male nurses and female doctors. However, there are still many women and men who claim that there are still major problems in society and the workplace, ranging from pay differences to cultural slurs which need a great overhaul.

Today we will be discussing all of this, and I would like to welcome... I would also like to thank Jason...

There are extremes on both sides. There are men who think women deserve to get raped, and there are women who think equal rights effectively mean women deserve MORE rights than men.

To kick things off let’s discuss this image:

- Gender Stereotypes
There is commonly a complaint made that gender stereotypes are harmful to women as little girls are brought up to adhere to the "princess culture" in which they are encouraged to wear pink, play "mothering" roles and not strive to reach their full potential. Looking at our uni's "women's rights" preference, there is a huge issue as this completely (and purposely) fails to address the fact that little boys also are encouraged to conform to a gender stereotype in which we are told that we should repress our emotions. This leads to heightened mental illness rates and drastically increased suicide rates. Americans can look forward to a 3:1 - 10:1 suicide ratio (depending on source), and, even given this huge difference, around 50% more women will seek mental help than men.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_differences_in_suicide
Here is an article for the UK and it appears that this issue is actually getting worse, so, as the gender disadvantage women suffer lessens, it is also increasing for men, but this is actively downplayed by bigots like those who campaign against having a gender equality officer.
- rape stats
Estimated 69,000 female rape cases but there is also 9000 male rape cases. Granted, the majority of the attacks are against women but the attention is completely disproportionate. How many articles/helplines/posters/stalls etc have you seen regarding rape against women? How many have you seen regarding men? If it was "fair" it would be at least 1 instance of protecting men against rape for every 8 women ones. I have never seen anything regarding male rape. Ever. You also have a significantly less chance of getting a conviction against a female rapist, this is looking only at real stats, ignoring the ones that are laughed out of the police station because there isn't obvious in-your-face evidence.

- "it's all mens fault anyway"
The next person who says this will get stabbed in the eye with a rusted tree stump. I've heard the opinion that male stereotypes are the fault of men anyway, so if they want to rectify it, they can do it themselves as it's completely their responsibility. Yet, when it's challenged in public (the FB group), look at the response you got. "You're a man, you don't know how it feels, stop talking, sit back and accept you are the problem". Fuck that.
- Maternal or Paternal rights
Don't know very much about this, but it seems that Mummy wins - always.
" You will not have the right to have contact with the children, to see them regularly, to have them to stay with you, to take them on holiday and will not be legally entitled to do the things you once took for granted such as going to school parent's evenings, consenting to medical treatment or even signing the forms to allow your 17 year-old to join the Army. - Media
Here is an awesome example. Like, fantastic. So there was a woman who asked for a divorce, while she was sleeping the man sneaked up on her, and sliced her breasts off. This was so hilarious that it was later discussed by Hamond and Clarkson on Top Gear were the entire audience was in stitches because it's just such a funny concept, especially when he continued to mutilate them afterwards, making sure that they were unable to be reattached, and then joked about how he would have went on to feed them to his dog. Wait..... That didn't happen, but can you imagine the uproar that would have stemmed from it?!! Well it did happen the other way around and was featured on "The Talk" with Sharon fuckface Osborne regarding a woman who cut off her husbands penis.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnXCPcq_RTY
You then of course have the case of the Russian guy who broke into a hair salon. The lady who owned it caught him because she was a trained fighter (black belt) and she proceeded to tie him up, drug him and subject him to "punishment rape" for 3 days. Afterwards, she threw some cash at him to keep him quiet but his genitals had suffered from so much trauma that he had to admitted to hospital. Now, if someone suggested 3 days of punishment rape for female thieves.....
But as this was a man:
Here is the facebook fan page for the rapisthttp://www.facebook.com/olgazajac
First 3 results from google for her:

And a few highlights from the comment sections below each of the articles provided:
" Hahahhaha. Classic"
"Lmao"
" Brilliant!! Get her working on border control or in a prison or something!! "
" He won't try & rob her again. He'll want compensation next."
" The guy goes for cash but gets something better and he cries to the police?"
" AND HE'S COMPLAINING ???????"
" Bet he broke into the salon because he figured it would be easy to rob women. Bet he'll never target women again. EPIC WIN!"
" He should have crawled away with his tail between his legs, not gone to the police. What a wimp."
" Given food, money, Viagra and sex. If only all robberies went this well"
" That is so funny.."
"Let that be a lesson to you!"
" ROFL. Girl Power! Yeah."
" Don't know whats funnier, her turning the tables on him or the fact that he went to the police about it. By the way is that reasonable force Ha HA. I'm going to be laughing for days."
Could go on for a very long time.
