RANT & REVIEW:

Title: Memento

Movie can be seen: Netflix

Movie Synopsis: Memento chronicles two separate stories of Leonard, an ex-insurance investigator who can no longer build new memories, as he attempts to find the murderer of his wife, which is the last thing he remembers. One story line moves forward in time while the other tells the story backwards revealing more each time.

Release Date: 2000

Time Line Break Down: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Memento_Timeline.png

Trivia: The film took 25 days to shoot.

The medical condition experienced by Leonard in this film is a real condition called Anterograde Amnesia - the inability to form new memories after damage to the hippocampus. During the 1950s, doctors treated some forms of epilepsy by removing parts of the temporal lobe, resulting in the same memory problems. (otherwise known as a lobotomy)

Christopher Nolan's first choice for the role of Leonard was Alec Baldwin.

In one scene, Leonard quickly passes in front of a comic book store. The Batman logo is displayed prominently on the store's window. Christopher Nolan later directed Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (Jared B. - and The Dark Knight Rises).

After being impressed by Carrie-Anne Moss' performance as Trinity in the 1999 science fiction film The Matrix, Jennifer Todd suggested her for the part of Natalie. While Mary McCormack lobbied for the role, Christopher Nolan decided to cast Moss as Natalie, saying, "She added an enormous amount to the role of Natalie that wasn't on the page".

Well Known Quotes: Natalie: ?You know what one of the reasons for short term memory loss is? Venereal disease. Maybe your cunt of a fucking wife sucked one too many diseased cocks and turned you into a fucking retard.?

Leaonard: ?I have this condition.?

Sammy: Ow! What the fuck?
Doc: It?s a test sammy.
Sammy: Test this you fucking quack!

Teddy: Hey! Hey, that's not your car!
Leonard Shelby: [takes a picture of the Jaguar] It is now.
Teddy: Jesus Chri- you can't take it!
Leonard Shelby: Why not?
Teddy: Because the guy you killed owns it; somebody will recognize it!
Leonard Shelby: Well, I rather be mistaken for a dead guy than a killer.

IMDB Reviews:
Best Movie of 2001 (Thus Far)
15 May 2001 | by Chris Holland (cjholland24@yahoo.com) (Columbus, Mississippi) ? 10/10 Incredible, riveting and powerful. What else could I say? This movie has all of the qualities of classic film noir as well as the magnitude of an original, unique concept that has been tried and tried before but works here.

Guy Pearce has been underrated for years (just think back now to Priscilla and can you believe this is the same guy) and finally might get the recognition here that was at least well-deserved of him back for LA Confidential. Powerful performances, well developed story with suspenseful build up of what our main character pieces together little by little makes this a must see.
Easily in my top 100 of all time.

*FROM CJ* I had to review this movie when I was taking a film production course, as it was counted as one of the greatest produced movies of all time. All this movie did was 1. put Nolan on the map, and 2. give me the largest migraine of my life.  Production wise, yes, the movie is gold, and one of the best movies of all time, but acting, direction, etc. is horrible, and the plot is REALLY absurd. I?d rather watch a popcorn movie any day.
