Title: AUAA
Post by: Pusser on July 05, 2012, 06:03:40 AM
Ask Us All Anything
Here are the rules:

You may ask me anything, but for each question I answer, I will ask you one in return that you will be required to answer

One question at a time/per post.

Answer the question above, ask a new question yourself

Go nuts

Are we required to answer Honestly?

My REAL question is, 'When did you realise that you were a geek?'

Are we required to answer Honestly? Yes :P

My REAL question is, 'When did you realise that you were a geek?' When I realised that I was not alone. When I saw that there were others with my interests, I realised that the label fitted me rather well. That was also around the time when the word "Geek" started getting used around here for more than Bill Gates types.

My return question:
Why the nick "Eid"?
Title: Re: AUAA

Why the nick "Eid"?
There was actually an audio content segment (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/234239/A%20Short%20History%20of%20Eid%27s%20Name.mp3) for Casually Hardcore on this, since they always used to get it wrong :)

I was about 15 or 16 and in the play 'the sound of music', it also happened to be my first time playing Laser Tag and I was required to come up with an alias, the first thing that came to my head was 'edelweiss', of course neither I nor the guy working at laser quest could spell it, so we settled on Eidleweise. I kept at as that until I started playing MUDS when most people shortened my name down to Eid, and so I became Eid LeWeise, which remains my main alias to this day :)

Of course as I got older I learned that Eid was a muslim holiday (so I am probably being blasphemous to them - any muslims in the audience care to confirm or deny this? - either way , no disrespect intended) I also learned that it was Norwegian for Owned, some people have commented that it's Die backwards (which since I am usually a rogue character stabbing people in the back I'm cool with)

I'll keep open the floor back to the peanut gallery...

Eid

A:
I find it kind of funny honestly. If at 16 I'm the young one, what does that make everyone else? :P

What is your fondest memory outside of gaming?

I'd have to say it would be on my wedding day. I was standing at the bottom of the aisle, waiting for my wife to come in and then as I heard the murmur as she walked down. I didn't want to see her until she was next to me, so I was standing there at the bottom, my eye's tightly shut, saying to my self "don't turn around, don't turn round", then when I finally did, this is what I saw...

(yeah so the shot's later in the day, but you get the idea :P)

And my question is:
Have you ever TRULY been in love, and if so, how did you KNOW you were?

We had a very limited number of TV channels at the time.

What movie has left you most disappointed?
Title: Re: AUAA
Post by: Pusser on July 08, 2012, 05:35:27 PM
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

I sat for the first half hour, waiting for the title screen to pop up and the movie to start. And I spent the nect two and a half hour being bored out of my skull.
I had to watch the entire thing in my job as a movie reviewer for our local TV station. After the honest review of it, they stopped using me, because the cinema didn't sell as many tickets as they had anticipated and they blamed me.

Alternaatively: Manos: The hand of Fate. But that one was so BAD that it was funny

I know it is strange... but Jim Carrey and Rowan Atkinson.
Both are fun in small doses, but when it comes to full length movies, I grow tired of them.
And then I have a whole list of people, whose acting talent I respect, but I don't care to watch their stuff myself. Top of that list is Nicholas Cage. That man has the emotional range of a wooden plank. Not much unlike Kristen Stewart.
Oddly enough I have found a picture of those two together:

Is there a 'heaven' as defined by traditional Christian culture?
Title: Re: AUAA

Those religious questions cannot be answered in a way that will satisfy everybody, so I will refuse to make a definite answer.
I am not monoteistic religious, but I am not going to push my views on others, nor am I going to define my personal belief on wether or not a certain religious concept is true or not.
Love and Tolerate and all...

So I am going to take this in a slightly different direction and re-formulate the question:
What do you believe/hope for when your time on earth is up?

I enjoy sleeping, but not when I'm about to. I want to stay up late, as I prefer the night. Sleep just seems like a bother at that point. However, when it ends up being sleeptime, I enjoy the hell out of it, and as such, get stubborn when it's time to wake up.

Non because I woodchuck can't chuck wood...

You're getting ready to go to work. You pull on your pants. Fasten, then zip, or zip and then fasten?

Wrong!  The woodchuck would chuck as much as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood!

I can, and I got my lisence in the aftermath of a snowstorm, so I can even drive in snow.
I don't, however, have a car, because cars are f*cking expensive to own around here.
Gas is around 13DKK / liter (That is the rough equivilant of $8 / gallon), and the price for purhcasing a veichle is approximately doubled (I kid you not) thanks fto Envioremental fees.*

Go back to when you were 10 years old. What did you want to be when you grew up?

[*Edit: and on top of that, the lisence itself (regular car, under 3500kg, small trailer) is between 15.000 and 20.000 DKK... Cars are costly here]

What do you wear (if anything) when you go to bed?
Title: Re: AUAA
Post by: Pusser on July 12, 2012, 03:27:08 PM
It differs.

When it is chilly, I have a red Minie Mouse pyjamas (I like it, it is comfy. Shut up)
When we have visitors over, I just wear a large T-shirt (for the occational having to leave the bedoom for one reason or another)
When I am sharing the bed with the Spawn (when Daddy isn't home), I also wear the T-shirt
And when it is husband/wife time.. well... d'oh

On an average day, it is just undies and nothing else. Less clothes to wash. We don't have a washing machine (it is against the apartment rules to have our own installed)

I use e-versions of refference books, but I don't enjoy sitting and reading on my screen, and I don't have an ereader, so the majority of my books are physical sniff-and-hug versions.
They are also easier to fit into a pocket for those long bus rides (since I don't have the aforementioned car) and doesn't run out of batteries

Yep. Got t-bones in an intersection once when someone failed to observe a give way sign (Or a Yield sign to those elsewhere in the world). Walked away without injury but the car frame was damaged beyond repair and had to be scrapped. Had I been going any slower the impact would have hit the drivers side door, leaving me in real trouble.

For bonus points, I was driving a hearse.

I'm excited for the third episode of the Walking Dead game by Tell Tale. I have never read the comic, I have never seen the TV show or any other related material. I bought it off a whim and with encouragement from the good reviews it got. It's really compelling; I felt weaker after I finished the second episode. Even though I saw several major plot points coming from miles away, I still enjoyed seeing it pan out. I don't even like adventure games. (Other than the amazing Abe Lincoln Must Die!) I can't stand the Sam & Max games--at least from what I've tried to play of them.

Do you have a favorite book-to-movie conversion?
Title: Re: AUAA
Post by: Red Dog Dragon on July 16, 2012, 03:44:52 PM
Do you have a favorite book-to-movie conversion?
Easy, Lord of the Rings.

The movie trilogy in my opinion is better then the books (I know, heresy) but Tolkien rambled a lot and focused on things that to me was just boring.  To the point it took me two attempts to read Fellowship of the Ring because he spends like a whole chapter going over in great detail the inner workings and political struggles between the different hobbit families in the Shire.  None of which really makes any god damn difference to the story.  And I don't think I need to go over why the section dealing with Tom Bombadil felt stupid.

Also, there were some characters in the books that felt under developed or just felt unrealistic.  Case in point the elf daughter that the King ends up marrying.  In the books she's really nothing more then a trophy wife.  "Saved the world from Mordor?  Great!  Have my daughter!"  Or the warrior woman (her name escapes me) literally falls in love with a guy on sight and just seemed so dumb.

Todd and I just talked about this.   Who Framed Roger Rabbit? didn't age well.  My folks and I dug it up awhile ago remembering how much we enjoyed it back in the day and we really felt disappointed.  My guess is the "ooooh shiney!" of the title was the fact it was one of the first movies that real and artificial characters interacted on screen and seemed believable.  But now a days it's almost a given at least one character in typical action or sci fi or fantasy is computer generated so that isn't special anymore.

The only parts that were cool was the interaction of WB and Disney characters.

I don't have a job. I get paid by The States Fund for Education Support to study. I get about $1375, €1130, £885 (pick the one you are the most familiar with) per month on the condition that I stick to studying. Two thirds of that is a loan, and I get the option for a double loan because I have a kid.
If I had a job, there would be a severe limit on how much I'd be allowed to earn on the side before they'd start deducting the Education Support I recieve. I don't have a job, so I can't remember what the limit is.
As it is now, I consider myself rather privilegied to live where I live.

Back in college, but I have asthma and require an inhaler to control it which basically disqualifies you from service in the US.

On the flip side, recruiters most share notes because I got a lot of calls from the different branches but mentioned this once and never got a call again.

I haven't. In a fit of grief, I considered doing it right afte rmy father passed away from cancer, but I stuck with just cutting my hair. I had my mother braid it before cutting it, and the 26 cm of braid was put on top of my fathers coffin before the ceremony. Later it was cremated with him.
I figured that since he had lost all of his hair, he could have some of mine, so he would not be completely without any on the other side.

I'm doubtful.  I don't think Chick-Fil-A is changing anybody's mind on the topic and it's not like they're alone on the owner's stance.

If anything, I think it's be harmful to some politicians who have been threatening to use their position to block Chick-Fil-A and completely forgetting the whole "first amendment" thing.  There's been a lot of Lib on Lib anger over it.

I believe there are mysteries we have not explored yet. I believe that all of human conciousness can be represented in alternative forms. I believe that the possibility exists that other beings have presented themselves to us, and we in our Ignorance choose to call them 'God', for all intensive purposes they could even be 'Gods'.

I do not feel guilty for killing insects.

If they get within my reach, they should take better care not to get killed.
If I run into traffic, I need to take care not to get hit by an oncoming bus. Same deal with me and insects. They need to take better care of my incoming bug spray/slapper/trap/lure/whatever.

Keep in mind that spiders are not insects.
I have a deal wiht the spiders: As long as they eat smaller insects and stay out of reach of the cat, they are welcome.
I prefer wolf spiders though. Don't care too much about cobwebs everywhere.

I believe in alien lifeforms, but I don't see them as wanting to go to earth for whatever reason.
I believe that they are out there, probably flying around in spaceships too, but probably very far away, and I doubt that they'd be able to survive on earth, just as we would be unable to survive even on the Moon without massive technological aid.

UN= United Nudity, could be lots of fun....location determines outcome.
UN= United Nations.   Sad waste of  a nations resources.   *I have had friends who have dealt with and been in the UN.   All agree just a piss poor waste.   But what do I know, I live in Oregon.

I have more respect for hookers than I do for stock traders.

I am in the middle of the Apprenticeship exam now. The project is an imaginary webshop selling shoes.

Have you ever been mugged?
Title: Re: AUAA
Post by: Eid on September 12, 2012, 10:42:15 AM
Have you ever been mugged?

I had someone try to mug me once. I was about 17 years old and on my way home from School during the winter. I'd been doing some after school activity and was in my uniform at about 9 pm and on my way to Edinburgh bus station. (just off of Edinburgh's main shopping street, but with it being after shopping hours and at night, not exactly the safest place, though also far from the worst too!) In my wallet I had enough money for my bus fair and maybe 50p more.

Someone came up to me and asked if I had any spare change. I said 'sorry, but I've only got my bus fare home' he then demanded my money and 'got in my face'. I told him I'd happily give him the change from my bus, but that was all I had. He then demanded my watch, to which I refused. I'm not entirely sure, what happened next, I think he attempted to head but me, but I don't remember it hurting. Then someone else (in a suit) showed up also going to the bus station and I just followed him to the station. The would be mugger followed us, but I got on the bus and then relaxed...

Do you ever plan out crimes in your head, even though you'd never do them? (if so what's you're criminal masterpiece!!!)

But at the same time I am a realist.. I know that I am most likely to be among the billions of casualties.
When the Zonbie Apocalypse strikes, I don't plan on a survival strategy, because I know that it is futile. I'm going to be one of the zombies regardless.

Don't need a strategy, I live in rural Australia. Zombies will be eaten by sharks/savaged by wildlife/explode in the heat/eaten by giant killer ants before they get here. Failing that, we have hundreds of miles of underground mine under the town and enough explosives to level a city. We may end up evolving into mole people though.

Have you ever commited a crime and it that case what?

I shop lifted a bottle of whisky once as a kid, suffice to say I SUCKED so hard at it, looked totally guilty and got busted. Several hours later I had learned my lesson!

My perfect sandwich, like anything really depends on what kind of mood I am in right NOW. However right NOW, I fancy some black pudding and fried egg (sunny side up) on a soft roll, which has been buttered and has a little brown sauce on the bottom (and non contaminating the top). I might even have two of them!

What is your favourite drink?
Title: Re: AUAA

Non-Alcoholic: Chocolate Milk.  I love chocolate milk...like stories have been written about my love for chocolate milk.
Alcoholic:  Um depends on my mood, an english pale ale, Shiraz wine, or Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic come to mind.

If I was on a deserted island and only had one drink until the end of time it would be chocolate milk (preferrably Quik powder)

Drawing.  I just haven't tried in years now, and when I even think about it, I cringe at the idea at how bad my already meager skills would have gotten from inactivity.

I used to prefer the versatility of the PC, but since the majority of my gaming time now takes place alongside the Spawn, i've found a love for Xbox and Kinect. It get me 30 minutes exercise once in a while too.

I just bought a My Little Pony Miniature set: Cloudsdale because the Spawn wanted one of the ponies (Rainbow Dash) and the cool gryphon in the set.
That left me with the third miniature, a Wonderbolt pony. It was a white pony with a yellow mane and tail and the signature suit and goggles. Rather than having the anonymous background-wonderbolt, I've repainted it to look like Spitfire.

Play games? What is that?

Even though I finished school (yay, exams done) and I am now an unemployed bum, I still feel like I have a billion things to do every single day. As a result, my time spent on gaming is rather low compared to what it should be.
Unless I am among the lucky few who has one of their 1001 job applications go through and I get a job (ohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseletmegetajob) I might settle down into this unemploymentness and actually get some gaming going.

Perhaps I'll even finish Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines or Overlord. Who knows.

My cat back then (Monkey) had pissed me off so severely by pissing on my clean laundry, that I dreamt that I cut its head off with a pair of siccors. In my dream, the head didn't come off completely, and the cat just refused to die, so I threw him out the window.
Pretty freaky.

Post by: Ken on November 12, 2012, 07:54:59 AM
I feel I remember most of them but apparently we are always dreaming when asleep, so I do have a good memory of my most recent ones anyway. Last night I dreamed of wedding rings.

Have you ever sleep-walked/talked/made sandwiches? (I did the latter, nothing like waking up with a sandwich in your hand!)

That sounds like a win to me :)

Anyway no I've not sleep walked etc. Apparently I do talk sometimes and I've held entire conversations with my sleeping wife :) Last night I had a good dream. Not sure of most of it, but some how it turned into a series of Red Dwarf. Lister entered into some secret, wonderful toilet nirvana of Rimmer's and started half singing in the way that he does.... I then woke up and realised I was bursting :)

Have you even had a toilet dream letting you know that biological functions need to take place?

No, but after nights of heavy drinking or after I've had lots of water, using the restroom is the first thing I do.

Gender is always my favorite topic, so here's a seirousish question. It's a little wordy so read it carefully.

If tomorrow you woke up as the opposite gender in a world where it has been changed to reflect that you always were your new gender(family thinks you've always been a girl/boy, your room/clothes are now all masculine/feminine, ect.). Assuming you retained all memories of your previous world and life, but still gained the basic knowledge on how to live as your new gender; would you pursue a path that would allow you to cosmetically alter yourself to change as close back to your original gender as possible? Why or why not?

For me that would depend on if my sexuality had also been changed? Would I still 'fancy' women? What about my wife, would she also become gay too?

Regardless, I think I'd still be 'me' regardless of my gender, I'd still be a geek, I'd still be a gamer, so in that regards I guys I'd be a bit of a tom boy rather than a 'girly girl'. I would NEVER consider having cosmetic surgery to make myself a man again though...

Would you like to live for 6 weeks as a 'fully fledged' member of the opposite sex?
There are no consequences to relationships etc, let's say you get picked up out of this reality, dumped into another one where everything is the same apart from your gender, however you've no ties. You're essentially a blank slate, but have resources to live. Then 6 weeks later you get dropped back into your reality exactly where you left off.

In real life, most of my hobbies outside of what I do on the computer/gaming are incredibly feminine and are often things I have to hide because I'm a heterosexual male in the area of the world I live in. I enjoy several things such as gardening, taking care of young children, cooking, helping my female friends pick out what to wear, and watching romance or relationship anime with several of my female friends just to name a few. So I would jump at the opportunity to be able to enjoy my hobbies without negative social stigma attached even if just for a few weeks. Everything from getting to try on clothes, go shopping, be more open with my emotions, to spending time with any female friends I might make and not be "that one guy who swears he's streight." would be something I know I'd enjoy. Oh, and for the record, there is not sexual feelings when I'm doing any of the above. These are things I like to do that are just very enjoyable to me, not something I do for sexual thrills. :P Hell, just to be able to give a friend a hug and tell them things will be okay when their sad or having problems with no judging eyes would be the best feeling in the world.

Here's a more general question to change topic.

How do you think this week will go? Will it be a good uplifting week, or will it be a bad droning week that just won't end.

What's your least and most favorite household chore?
Title: Re: AUAA
Post by: Pusser on November 20, 2012, 02:36:11 AM
I'll ninja this one!

Most facorite: Grooming the cat. Xenos is a halfbred forest cat (maine cooon, norwegian, siberiah... whichever of the large long-hairs you can think of. we're not sure, she's a rescue)
Xenos absolutely loves her brushings to the point where she comes running assoon as she hears me clicking the brush against the table or floor.

We have to brush her at least a couple of times every week to get the majority of the loose hairs somewhere else than... everywhere. Also she has a BUNCH of insulation fur, and especially during the spring and fall, she change the entire coat. It helps her immensely to get some aid from the steel tooothed wool brushwe got especially for her.

My least favorite chore must be emptying the vaccum cleaner after use... it's one of those fancy bag-less cyclone vaccums, and emptying it without it just going everywhere is quite tricky. That or cleaning the top of the kitchen cabinets. Cooking fumes leaves a sticky layer that takes rubbing andscrubbing to remove.

Polar bear. I hope it wouldn't just be obedient but have a complete understanding of any of my commands. So I could ride it, tell it where to go, who to maul and hide the evidence by eating whole, etc.

I'd like to improve on the skills Im supposed to be making a living off.... and I'd love to get a job where those skills would be put into good use.

Also I'd like to learn how to play the piano and guitar.

Have you ever tried eggnog?
Title: Re: AUAA
Post by: Pusser on December 03, 2012, 10:26:00 AM
'tis the season to be trolly! and yes. It is an old tradition that you'd give the kids a raw egg in a cup, a BUNCH of sugar and a fork. "Go stir, kids," the adults would say. The kids would go crazy on the eggs and the adults then have time to relax, chat and enjoy each ohers company during the family holiday dinners.
Then came Salmonella, and what used to be a great family tradition turned into a death threat.

I haven't had real eggnogg since I was a kid as I refuse to make it from pasteurised eggs, or even worse - to buy that mass-produced horror of horrorness.
Eggnogg and the tradition surrounding it has turned into yet another fond memory. It's best that it stay that way.

Post by: Pusser on December 05, 2012, 04:28:49 PM
That depends on the situation. In some cases it can be a useful tool in order to get people to realise the obvious. When I LARP, it is one of the best (and gentlest) ways of manipulating the junior players into doing what you want them to do, and making them think it was their own idea (so they don't feel that you're bossing them around). That is an aspect of the game that can be very enjoyable when you have a couple of older players playing it against eachother.

What do you secretly geek out over?

Secretly? I'm no secret with my geekyness, I spray it over everyone nearby (word choice intentional). But the closest I can get, I think, is more geek out, less secret. I find reading so incredibly immersive compared to gaming, movies etc, that when I get to a really good part I hyperventilate (nothing else has ever made me do it, never had any panic attacks or anything. Just a total nerd). Books have included Harry Potter and especially the black magician series.

Holy Crap, well, man...mood depends on the game I play.   But I would have to point out the one game that has sucked so much life out of me and gave me such wonderful Memories and tales to be told.  One which can take a Saturday and make it a Sunday, even a Monday.  One so devious that it has taken the minds and souls of gamers only to mold them into self proclaimed GODS.

Civilization V.    (I bet a few would have said WoW, close, but no)

What game have you played yet you are ashamed you have.
Title: Re: AUAA
Post by: Ebion on December 22, 2012, 08:14:15 AM
Ashamed that I've played? I feel like there's a lot of games that fall into this, like Mass Effect 3 and the demo for Diablo 3. The most recent was a joke gift a got called Dinner Date. My god it was so bad. It's like a dating sim where you can interact with all the objects at a set dinner table and have to chat with the most awkward AI date in the history of AI.

To follow up on this, a game I was ashamed to play but actually enjoyed was probably Secret of the Magic Crystals, another joke gift I got from a friend who decided that since I like MLP:FIM I'd totally "Love" this pony game. As it turns out, I did. I liked it a lot actually. It's an indie game so the animations and gameplay mechanics are kind of meh but it was actually a pretty decent overall experience.

What are you looking forward to most from the Winter Sales on Steam, GoG, Amazon, ect?

Why am I not in bed? Why Are YOU not in bed? Where should you be?
Title: Re: AUAA
Post by: Pusser on December 29, 2012, 04:04:07 AM
You are not in bed because your mind it not ready for rest. You no longer exist. None of us do. On december 21st, a black hole manifested inside the earth and destroyed us all in the blink of an eye. The mind, however, is a wonderous thing and our collective mind (aka the racial hive mind) has created this illusion where our own mind is individually responsible for our egos experience of the shared created world. We are unable to fly, do magic, live forever, because while we are responsible for the individual, we are still bound by the parameters the hivemind as a whole has created, and each of us are limited by what the nearby minds believe that we can do.... so if your neighbours believed that you could turn into a moth prior to december 21st (and you believed it yourself as well), then congratulations - now you are truely capable of turning into a moth.

I read this post while still in bed, but didn't want to type all this out on my phone, so now I am where I was supposed to be: in front of my computer, looking for more jobs to apply for. Le sigh.

Is the earth being the only known planet in the universe with chocolate a good enough reason to protect it?

Yes! We need to protect our Chocolate! We should, in a similar vein to the plaques on the Voyager spacecraft, crowed source 'Chocolate Arcs' that could be sent to near by star systems. These could both serve as good will ambassadors of the Earth to any potential life forms they encounter but also as a way to preserve our current state of Chocolate technology incase of future loss of knowledge. These craft, since they would be un-manned (maybe give them a chocolate captain just for good measure?) would be fully achievable with our current tech levels.

In a similar vein when do you think we will interact with another intelligent (arguably!) life form?

FYI, the books are "A Song of Ice and Fire."  The first book was titled "Game of Thrones" but the show is just labeled "Game of Thrones." :)

Title: Re: AUAA

The first memory I have was clearly tainted by my rampant childish imagination at the time.. which was being at the zoo with my Nanny (grandmother) and my parents, and my Nanny rode an elephant.

Truth: I went to the zoo with the aforementioned and there were elephants there. But I was <1 years old. Remembering anything from then I'm happy with!

Continuing this line of thought: What is the most embarrassing school-time event you remember? E.g. sneezing snot all over yourself or something.

Accidentally letting one rip in class... My teacher asked me (knowing full well) what I'd done. Me, being a good honest boy, explained that I had farted. I then got ridiculed by the whole class, naturally...

No.  Thinking back I can only remember two teachers that were "young" (one being a guy and an asshole) otherwise my teachers were always "old" and not "crush worthy."

I've lost interest in some stuff while reading/watching it, but I only really "rage quit" a couple of podcasts.

One just about how this host kept saying things that were really stupid and I couldn't get around how often she would make piss poor arguments about things.  I just had to dump it after awhile.

Another I enjoyed but for parts where they'd get political and claim they don't want to get political so they would quickly end the discussions but completely failed to offer any counter point.  Basically saying if you don't agree with the statement/claim, then your opinion is simply invalid.

Then later a host literally just called me and everybody who happens to lean a specific way politically as "stupid."  Yeah ok, fuck you too buddy.  Done with that show.

Hm since I'm unsure, two:

-Horseradish sauce that I thought was mayonnaise.
-Gran just died. We inherited her old cockatiel. Very old so when it flew it tended to reach the ground quickly. It landed on the couch and I let it sit near my plate with pizza, it pecked at the crust. Whatever no biggie. I pick up a slice, dip it into my mayonnaise, bite. Almost instantly sick. Run to sink, wash mouth out with vinegar to get rid of taste. Bird poop.

Your biggest disappointment in a tv show/movie/book?

It was actually a great story thread, but my biggest disappointment in a TV show, would be Micheal Garibaldi descent into alcoholism in Season 5 of Babylon 5. His problem and successful coping with it was a fairly major part of his character, then, when he finally reached for that bottle it really hit home and made me want to reach out and stop him...

I tend to "fan" so many shows...it's crazy,  as well as Graphic Novels I read.   I do fail in trying to make one better than the rest.   There are so many TNG, SW, and BSG fans.... and we'll say it... MLP too.    I have passion for M*A*S*H.   Best show I ever watched.  So many great memories.   If I could, I would own a Willies JEEP painted with 4077 on it...  In fact.. One day I will.

There is a long list of these, with the chief problem being that the have already made movies out of books that should never have a movie adaptation. If I had to pick one though, It'd be Dirk Gently books by Douglas Adams. There is way to much weird and random stuff going on that you could never follow the plot in a movie, and Hollywood would no doubt bastardise it into a crappy Sherlock ripoff anyway.

Probably some kind of tower wars. I like tower wars. I'd make it incredibly mathy though, I mean screw just a couple upgrades for towers. I mean there will be so many creeps, so many tower types that there would be 100,000 ways to win and 500,000 ways to lose.

What are you stressing about?

Honestly, Red Dwarf. It has all the right ingredient; Sci Fi Setting, British humor, weird aliens, a cat that's evolved into a humanoid and a sarcastic hologram. This stuff is like catnip to me (Roll in it, then eat it till I puke) but I just can't get into it. Maybe it's the main protagonist, Lister. He's supposed be be kind of a fish out of water type deal but he just comes of as a complete twat most of the time.

Let's reverse it, Game/book/movie/ect that you should have hated but love?

Really Dr .who is just us with time lords and stuff, so if you are just might be in the Dr. who universe and not know it if your an extra. :-) So that leave Wars vs Trek I would have to give the edge to Starwars, if J.J. Abrams keeps leading it in the Lucas direction ill switch sides.

Well this one time in a ask us anything thread I forgot to leave a question :-)
Really At a birthday party I sat down on plastic lawn chair at the computer to check something, someone else took the computer chair to sit on. Our kitchen and living room where one big room and that where me and everyone else was. I leaned back in the chair so I could see a play that just happened on the TV and the the rear legs broke leaving me with a sore rear and everyone laughing.

As for my question well its really your question answer the 3rd question you asked in this tread.

1: The first woman who told the first man that things get easier to clean, if you leave them soaking in water for a few hours/overnight... My kitchen is often occupied by dirty pots and pans "soaking".

2: The bastards who conclude that "oh, this kid is not interested in regular education. He must have this newly described ADD or - if he would rather do other things - ADHD. Let's fill him with ritalin!", thus making it the norm

3: Myself 6 years ago. I said no to attend the wedding of one of my best friends at the time, just because I was shy and it was in another country.

4: My older sister.

5: The next asshole who tell me to "Then go get another job"... I did not write over 70 applications to 60 different companies since newyear for fun.

6: Mitchel Scanlon for ruining a perfectly good book in the Horus Heresy series.

7: The kids who think it is funny trying to destroy the swingset in our communal playground... right outside my windows

And my question: When was the last time you wanted to introduce your own foot to your mouth?

And my question: When was the last time you wanted to introduce your own foot to your mouth?

Lets get this moving again.
So, I would have to say it is every time I have to talk to my ex-wife.   She is kinda nutty (bitchy) but is the mother of my son.  So I tend to be brutally honest and it always tend to be the wrong thing.  Now Granted, my son understands and it seems he suffers from the same issues as I with her.  (She ain't around much)  So it can be comical for us. Now if we look back on it, Yeah, not to bright.

Question: IF there was a place on earth you could carve your own country, where would it be and what would you call it.   (Lets get creative)

Hm so if I had the rights somehow to place it anywhere on Earth, I would probably choose somewhere based on temperature and what creatures would be likely to inhabit it. I'd probably plonk a large mainland with hundreds of little islands off the coast near Hawaii. This makes sense to me as it would be a great trading platform between the two opposing continents and the weather would be beautiful. What would I call it? Something fantasy like. "Eltharia", "Donalon" or something.

I grew up with animals.
Before I was born, my mother got a cat (a siamese named Timmi) and when I was 3 (or so) we got a dog, a lovely black labrador/german shepherd named Misha. I remember them both very vividly. I remember competing with my older siblings for Timmis attention at night. I remember walking Misha for the first time on my own.
And I remember with no uncertain how Timmi one day fell off the washing machine (he was 13 years old at the time) and something happened to his back. His hind legs went completely paralyzed, and my eyes still mist up when I remember trying to move away the vaccum cleaner pipe, so he could get past it... all while my mom readied a weaved basket to take him to the vet for the last time.
I still have the last picture of Timmi in the basket hanging on my wall.

My 1st (and really only) 'important' teddy bear I have would be called 'Dreameater'. He's not actually a teddy bear at all, but a raccoon puppet that my god father gave me as a Christmas Present when I was 3 (34 years ago). HOWEVER in the run up to Christmas I had a series of nightmares (apparently about a bear coming to eat me) so my parents gave me Dreameater who (naturally) would eat up all my dreams. Since then we've never really been separated. OK Sure he might be in my drawer now rather than my bed, but that's largely to protect him (well he us 34 years old and well loved)...

It was today at the Medival Faire where I am acting as a Falconer. Not much can be said about the mead. it is of good quality. I've had fun with the guys sellling, and I've had more than plenty taste tests *cough* so far...
The Falconer pin is a small bronze pin with a guy kneeling in front of an eagle, that is eating out of the bowl the guy is holding.

But I would love to own a  Battlestar Galactica uniform or a Imperial Star Destroyer Officer Uniform.  These sleek and commanding uniforms shows respect and authority within the Scifi circles.  Show off your complete knowledge of ship commands and placements.  Allow others to know you to be the sleek and charming commander who's past is in shadow but it make you a better leader for it.  Don't settle on being a simple pilot, or maybe some mind raping Jedi.  Be the Commander, Be the Leader, Be the Hero.

Cast the rest of the Justice League Movie:
Well,
Batman: In truth, I have no clue.   It would need to be someone with the voice of Batman, to help pull this off.  But I would not mind seeing Luke Evans give it a try.
Wonder Woman: Lynn Collins (Beautiful and powerful voice actress)
Aquaman: Sam Worthington
Flash: I saw plenty say Neil Patrick Harris, but age here is a issue.  So I would go with Ryan Gosling
Green Lantern: I Thought one time that Nathan Fillion would work on this role pretty well, but again, age is starting to show on him.  But I also think Chris Pine would pull this off pretty good.
Hawkgirl: Rachel McAdams (talk about someone who looks the part as well play the part)
Martian Manhunter:Christopher Judge (Indeed Podcast loves this guy!)

Some side cast members:
Captain Marvel: Dwayne Johnson
Ra's Al ghul: Liam Neeson
Darkseid: Michael Ironside
Soloman Grundy: Ron Perlman

This list could go on, and on, and on... you get the point.

The popular vote is for Darkseid, but I fell they will not go that way. First the avengers is using Thanos and they are too close of villains for such similar moves. Second Darkseid is a lesser known villain for the franchises launch they need a bigger name.

So my vote goes Brainiac. Batman and Superman with team up in their movie V.S. of Joker and Lex Lugar then the second Justice league can have the Legion of Doom.

3. James Montgomery "Jimmy" Doohan aka: Scotty: I got to see him at a con many years ago.  I was floored by the stories he told. personal and professional.  He was the standard of Geeks every where on being more than other expect you to be.  Break boundaries, and don't look back.  He was a real war hero.  then he became one on TV.  He understood the importance he achieved with Star Trek, and then ran with it.  He loved his fans.  That personality is one you always want around you.

Specs:
Case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-I
Processor: AMD FX-8350 8 Core
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
RAM: 16 gigs of Kingston Hyper X RAM
Primary Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green (1 terabyte)
Secondary Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black (1 terabyte) [That's the one sticking out of the case]
Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme liquid cooling.
Power Supply: Thermaltake 1050 toughpower gold.

Do you still watch cartoons and if so what and why?

Watching Cartoons is more common than most would care to admit. (I am seeing a podcast topic)
Yes, I do watch them.  Mostly older ones, like Justice League, Transformers, Thundercats, and such.  I have come to really enjoy Young Justice, but they ended it….basters.  But cartoons are represented is such a wide arrangement of views.  With Pixar and Dreamworks providing digital works which, in all aspect are “cartoons”, allow more adults to enjoy the simple stories that children are drawn to.  Such as Toy Story.  Kids love what Toy Story is all about.  A coyboy, a spaceman and one crazy adventure.  But the theme of the story is so much more.  Even if children don’t see it, we as adults do.  Most can even relate to the bonding you see between Buzz and Woody and the conflicts they endure.  Then see this happen in their own real life.  That balance has also been seen in movies such as The Incredibles,  Wall-E, and UP.
Move back to cartoons.  (you know I am going to bring it up)  My Little Pony.  A cartoon for “little girls” which has taken a fandom off the charts.  Season 2 was all about the bronies, and the lore they created.  Again, did they watch each episode of the show? YES.  Why?  Well, because they placed a core value in each that we wanted to hear about as adults.  Not just drabble (which I saw too much in season 3)  The target audience extended with the creation of fan art, writings, and short cartoons which expanded our reach of the intended audience.  Also can be said about Scooby Doo and the newer cartoons movies they have produced.  These movies were created with the intention kids will watch them, but in reality they targeted the adults who loved the show in the first place.

With so much hate, crime, pain, and sadness in this world.  An attempt to crush the inner child so early seen in schools and society.  It’s great sometimes to remember the greatness that cartoons allows us to escape to.  Allowing our minds to explore beyond the physical wall we seems to hit our head on way too often.

(Sorry, this is something I could really do a show on…..put that in my notes)

Staying on the topic of cartoons.    IS there a cartoon from your childhood you would like to see revamped, and updated?  Maybe put a new spin on it?

O that is easy Robotech macross series from the 80's, or voltron, or A good GI joe movie ( the first one was bad the  second even worse)  :-\. How about they they just stop crapping  on my youth and have a few good new ideas.

I do feel both at the same time.

Do you have a original  idea for a movie, T.V. show, game or book. if so what is it?

Well not for TV or a Movie, but Kelly over at WoWEh mentioned a few years ago for a idea about WoW Mounts in a Comic Strip.  The trials and adventures they endure.  Granted that can now include Battle Pets.  I think a Comic of that would be entertaining.  Following the misadventures of their trainer.  A really bad Pokemon, but from the pets perspective.

Is there any cool Home Tech you really want to get for yourself?

Oh yes. So much. I have a lot of ideas with this actually but two things are halting me from getting my hands on anything fun:

1) I want to build these things myself. I want to make my own app which connects to a server in my home via bluetooth so it knows when I'm in range then unlocks the door for me, moves the music I was listening to on my phone to my speakers, and puts on the kettle. But I really want to make my own so I can really customize it.

2) I am only in a semi-permanent residence so I shouldn't upgrade my home into some uber-cool-expensive futuristic home when I'm only gonna be there for another 10 months!

What is your current background? Screenshot, no cleaning allowed.

Pick one? For what???

For pure rolling fun: Star Wars Episodes 4 and 5... (Though Star Trek into Darkness gets an honorable mention)
For the universe I'd like to live in most: Star Trek
For the most potent bad guys (at least the ones that give me the most heebie jeebies) Battle Star Galactica (re-do)
For the best portrayal of our universe only slightly altered SG1

For the tv series / film that I liked the most - Babylon 5

What is your favorite blend of tea or coffee? (or alternative beverage of choice)
Tea: There is nothing better than a tall glass of Southern Sweet Tea, capped with a thin slice of golden lemon dancing on the edge of ice.
Coffee: My coffee of choice is Kahlua Kicker, or such drinks in that flavor zone.   The sweet taste of Kahlua has always dances on my tastebuds with every sip.  Nothing like starting the date with a hot cup of coffee with this wonderful flavor.

My favorite song(s) always change based on my preference, what I'm currently doing work and play wise, or just in general based on how much new content I listen to.

Currently, as I'm back into school and taking several project-heavy classes all at once, I'm back into Nightcore remixes, this is my favorite.

Moving swiftly on. Who is your favourite actress?

If you focus on "Actress"  I would have to break it up to 2 different ones.
On screen: Ming Na : Both in TV, Film and Voice she has earned my respect as a wonderful actress and has become such a well established performer.
When she was on ER, then voice Mulan, then when she was on Stargate Universe (should not have been cancelled) Now she'll be on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
She is also one beautiful woman!
VOICE:  Tress MacNeillie:  I have always loved the word she did all the way back from Animaniacs.  she has created such a unique spark to all the characters that she voice and set a standard that others look up to.

What was the last Movie you watched on TV, or Computer and why did you , or did not enjoy it?  So a movie review.

I watched Empire Strikes back at work yesterday comparing it to the plot Line of the typical Hollywood blockbuster. Good guy fight bad guy at one point it looks like bad guy is going to win then good guy goes hulk hogan and wins. the end. Really show how far blockbuster film making has fallen. in  ESB the rebels lost luke had his hand cut off Han was taken to jabba it left us in a very dark place, that made the epic struggle even more so.

What Cliche do wish any form of media would do away with.

-OK, another Great Podcast Topic.   One I think I may roll with soon.  Credit to you Darth-

A cliché has come to mean an overused expression which, though it was once fresh and conveyed something novel, has been repeated so many times that it is now a trite stereotype.  That being said, the list is so large, it drives me crazy.  I went ahead and looked up what cliché are still used in great numbers.  That continues my downward spiral of hope in humanity.   Grated we can confuse this with a archetype, which is another topic altogether.

First we start with a picture cliché:  Most common in the media would be the use of a empty swing with it comes to the poor performance of children due to budget cuts in schools.   Something I wish they would not use.  I support teachers, and will do anything I can to assist them, but when I ask them what I can do, I usually get "vote to get us more money"  WHAT?   They seem not to want parent in the classroom but rather feel more money is the solution.  The media hypes this by showing us the empty swing is regards it the meaning children are sitting at home depressed because out lack of funding.  (Really at home playing computer games) Pictures like this have no place in the news story.

Now for phrasing cliché:    "With all due respect ... <insert a statement that is totally not respectful>"  This has got to tick me off the most when I hear it on TV.  We now the truth.  IF the other person can't take it, they should not be on TV.  The true use of this phrase was lost so long ago.  Nearly every time it is used, there is no respect intended or even given.   The use of this is shown to be a low blow, and the media should just ban it.  At least, make fun of the person trying to use it.  The ideas that respect is being kept in a conversation where this statement has to come in play means one or both of the parties really hate each other.

Game Over Man, Game Over.

NO, not at all.  I have some pictures of my family also up there.  Between the Works of art I created, some works others have drawn, and other tid-bits of stuff I like.
such as: Indeed Podcast, WoW, MLP (Derpy) and my Moose collection.  I have pics of my kids up here too.
I think it gives others a quick insight to who you are and what you enjoy.  These things can start conversation quickly and then allow you to build a common ground with others. It is a good build of character as well.

What was your fondest Video game moment?

Well, I would have to place that in two different categories.
Single Player: I would have to say in FF III (NES) you come across a grave belonging to Erdrick who is the hero of Dragon Warrior (NES).  I though that was so cool back in the day to see the cross between both games.  This was back in the time where that kind of crossover was not hear of.   We were still working on getting established series set up.  But this was a foundation that was small, but lasting impression in my mind.
Muti-Player:  Yes, it is a WoW moment.  When BC come out I dropped my 60 Warlock and went to be a BE Paladin.  This shocked many folk because of all the hatred of the horde towards Paladins.  In fact there were times a group would see I joined them for a dungeon run and tell me that they werer not playing with a "BLEEP"ing Paladin and drop group.  I was called names, and dissed in BG's.   (YEAH, it happens in games too.)   But the moment I hit 70 with the help from my guild was a wonderful one.  They even threw me a party for completing that task.   The kind of memories that will never be forgotten.  Very wonderful times.

Is there a game from your past that you would like to see get a second chance with a full makeover.    (My example would be M*U*L*E from the comm64)

Ask and ye shall recieve...

I want a holiday in the very early spring or late winter celebrating science and our first definite  discovery of extraterrestrial life - a find that sparked countries worldwide to once more focus on the exploration of space. That event was also what spurred the renewed efforts to getting Mankind to Mars - not just to visit, but to establish a permanent base there.
The construction of massive Arcs to carry entire new colonies out into space, to remain on those vessels for generations untill the arrival at the planets that - after years and years of terraforming - are suitable for hman habitation....
And I want the day to be celebrated because it was just in the nick of time before we rendered our own planet inhospitable to human life.

The Little Green Man is kind of like Santa - the one we have no proof of (intelligent life that we can interact with on a higher level), yet keep hoping to find - to become a part of the galaxy itself rather than just inhabitants of a small insignificant spec of dust.

Happy?

And my question:
Will we get a pressence established on Mars in our lifetime?

Pusser: Great Holiday!

As for Mars...  Yes.

For example MARS ONE: http://www.mars-one.com/ (http://www.mars-one.com/) program is a privately funded with the expectation that it is a one way trip.  You go, you are now a citizen of MARS.   Unmanned Missions start in 2018 with groups of 4 launching every year starting 2024.  This is realistic.   Most of the trouble is getting people back from Mars and what it would do to them back in Earth's Gravity after such a long trip there.   This is only the first steps to other worlds.  Science is advancing in such a pace that by 2024 the process to send people could have advanced to a point where we even reach further out, such as a Moon of Jupiter.

Title: Re: AUAA
Post by: Pusser on December 27, 2013, 10:15:01 AM
I have a number of them:
Pusser
LagMonster/Laggie
Zillah/Zillah113/Z113
Malien
WebWolf

Pusser is easy to explain.
When I got my own WoW account, I was waiting for my BF to set it up for me (yay for being lazy)
He made a human paladin for me on the server I was supposed to sign up on. He called it Hejpus (hi hon). After sitting and grumbling over names for X minutes, I tried out Pusser. It worked. it stuck. My first WoW Main was called Pusser

In the days when I was RPing online on White Wolf's New Bremen chat, I originally had an OOC skin called Malien (more about that one later), but it was an old server and people were constantly complaining about lag and how the lag monster made it hard to play. I made a new OOC skin called LagMonster and POOF - there was my new handle. Later - after New Bremen closed - I took on the Laggie version that people had begun calling me. I still use it today.

Zillah was one of the Antediluvians from the Book of Nod. My favorite clan at the time was the Gangrels, and Zillah was the one to sire Gangrel (and Ravnos), so I adopted that name for a while... On NeoPets, Zillah was not good enough, so I added 113 (113 being my favorite number at the time). There is the story of Z113 too (in use on Photobucket, DeviantArt and a number of other pages)

Malien was my first online handle. M as in my own first letter, and "alien" for no good reason. Heck... it is 20 years ago!

WebWolf.
Not really sure why I made this one. I was sitting and making random doodles one day, and one of them ended up looking like a wolf head in a cobweb. I looked it up, and the domain was available.

I would not call any game useless they are all entertainment, if you enjoy them well good for you. Currently I am playing a lot of terraria it is very slow at work. I might have 20 min or so between calls gives me something I can do since when it is not the active window it pauses.

Valve is jumping into gaming hardware with its new Steambox platform. It combines console-like hardware that runs Steam-based PC games and works with a custom controller designed by Valve.
Get someone from Steam.  That would be freakin' awesome. (a test box would be nice too)

Well, I am working on a program at work called Restaurant Magic (Data Central) Data Central is robust back office restaurant software that helps restaurant management at all levels exert control in business critical areas such as sales, product mix, purchasing, inventory, workforce, cash and information management, and enterprise reporting.
First: you need to set each Standard item and identify it with a main product for cost, measurement, and ID.
Second: allow each item to be set up in a format to which you can purchase, recipe, and count it.
Third: each count items can be separated into mutiable variables.  Each variable to be set in conjunction with a  purchase amount.
Fourth: WAH WAH WAWA WAH WAWA BLEH

You'll get a picture when I have been by the car with my phone.
When I used my car for work, I always had a bag with me (I was a house cleaner - trash bags were part of my work stuff) and I made sure to keep a bag in the car for trash and the like.

Since I had to quit, I lost the ready-access to the bags, and as such trash ends up in the most strange places.
At first it was just the parking tickets that ended up on the floor, but then snack paper, notes, printouts and all sorts of junk ended up everywhere.
I am hoping to get the car cleaned out some time before the summer sets in for real. And I hope to educate Mr Pusser to use the damned bag (and to change it when it is full) in stead of just dropping things in the car and leaving them when he gets out.

And don't get me started on how the car looks on the outside after a winter of ick and a spring of birds and sand (yay, coastal town)

"When I get by my car with my phone"... what phone do you have and do you bring it EVERYWHERE with you, or are there times and places where you  either don't bring it, or turn it off/silent and ignore it

Why that question may have some legal issues if answered in it's fullness.  But I can say many years ago, in this one state, near this one town, several of us explored some abandoned Missile silos.  You have no idea how big those places are until you spend a whole night exploring them.  The complex was creepy as heck, almost a Silent Hill vibe.  I say we spent a good 8 hours exploring them and maybe only saw just over half of the complex.  Besides this may explain why I glow at night.  Just sayin' (sorry, no pics for this one)

Describe a local historical site near you.  Or Local lore.  (bonus: Pics included)

Oh wow... A local historical site...
When Madal (a guy from the WCRadio community, Australian) was backpacking in Europe and was in Denmark for a spell, he came by Aalborg because there was a place he wanted to visit; Lindholm Hills (Lindholm Høje). It is the largest preserved viking burial site, and the stone formations in combination with the awesome view over the fjord makes it a really spectacular place. There are several hundreds of graves (around 700 or so) with stones marking their location - and not just one little headstone, oh no. Each grave has either a ship-shape around it (a ship setting) made with 5-8 stones, or a triangle with 4-7 stones on each side, and the graves span from the early iron age (the year 500) and to the end of the viking age(1100)
Not only is the area itself protected, but it has been View protected too, meaning that it is not legal to construct buildings that obscure the view from the area. How's that for awesome.

(cheating and taking a few pics from the internet. It's not at its prettiest right now, the trees are mostly bare)

The area is fenced in, but only because of the goat-sheep-creatures they let graze in there (they're of the kind that were in the ares during the viking age). The area itself is open year-round however, and there's a bunch of places where they've put up stepping-logs so you can get across, as well as 4-5 gates, neither of which are locked.
Walking between the graves in the dead of night is a very special experience, and little children playing between the rocks is a common sight. It does not have the solemn "Respect the deeeeeeeeeead" vibe that a regular graveyard has, it is a place to celebrate life.
And it is respected enough by the common public that I can't think of a single time where it has been subjugated to vandalism, despite its open and nonsurveiled accessibility to everyone.

Never had either one, so I don't know what they taste like.
Cadbury eggs are on my list of stuff I want to taste if/when I get the chance

Which in turn leads me straight to my question:
What foreign food/snack to you see mentionned once in a while / have heard about / have seen videos of people making that you'd like to taste?

I will say it is NOT Haggis.  (sorry Ken)  Also it is NOT Deep fried Butter on a stick (Sorry Midwest folk)   I would like to try some real Lithuania dishes like Cepelinai.  (My family is from Lithuania)  I thought would be a great treat, granted I would need to be there to really experience it.

So in honor of MAY and all the animals out in force working on getting laid. (yes going there)   What is your favorite place to go for a romantic getaway.  (either food, or to visit)

OK....lets go with something slightly political.

Which if either do you believe to be worse for the Body and Society.....Alcohol or Marijuana....and why?

Good question! Let's look at each one, this is actually a subject I'm rather interested in.

Alcohol - We know for certain this is bad for you in any large doses. However, the NHS  in the UK recommends you have 2-3 units a day. That's not a "don't have any", that's the UK government actually recommending you DO have a glass or two a day, most days. However - excessive use is extremely detrimental to health. (http://www.nhs.uk/change4life/Pages/alcohol-lower-risk-guidelines-units.aspx)

Marijuana - This is known to relax and innovate creative motions in people, and it seems it ok in small quantities, used sparingly. However research so far shows this drug isn't the cancer-curing pain relieving extract (http://www.iflscience.com/health-and-medicine/cannabis-cannabinoids-and-cancer-%E2%80%93-evidence-so-far) it's made up to be.

I would say both are clearly to be used sparingly and carefully, and more research is required in both fields, however we can all agree that using both excessively (like anything in life) is detrimental to health, in body and mind.

Now back to the question - I would say alcohol is worse for your body, and both equally bad for your mind. As for society, I think freedom is important in society and having the ability to choose to do it should be at a nation's perogative. However if both were banned there would be obvious health benefits. However that's law, not society. I think alcohol at the moment is worse for society and is having more ill detriments upon our youth and aged alike. If marijuana was legal however, I would be interested to see the effects on health, society in general and average academic grades of marijuana absorption vs non consumers.

My question: What is the object to the right of your mouse?

Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi would be my votes.
Being 9/9 the anniversary of the dreamcast release 15 years ago and thus being voted off the video game manufacture island as the weakest link. So do you see this as Nintendo fate with the home counsel, Or will they find a way to attract 3rd party support? Well i guess they could keep burning money till they got completely out of business, but that's unlikely.

How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real? (https://twitter.com/officialjaden/status/329768040235413504)
Title: Re: AUAA

How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real?

Taken from the book "I'm not really here" by Tim Allen
I'm wondering how real or unreal the world of dreams is compared to our waking world. The Hindus and Buddhists say that our every day world is an illusion called Maya and what I've been reading about quantum physics seems to support that. I mean, right now, as I sit here in the kitchen waiting for Kady and Laura, my butt and the chair it's resting on both seem pretty solid, right? It's a solid butt/chair relationship. The physicists tell us that matter is almost totally empty space, so to them my butt (and the chair) look like the view of the heavens from the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. In addition, because on the micro-level there are supposedly no definite hard line borders between anything anyway, from that perspective my butt also kind of blends with the chair like cheese on a cheeseburger.

So what we see, feel, taste, and know truly here?   Besides, if this is just a play in the mind of some alien baby then it is alright for Ken to greet each morning standing naked on a hill with a bottle of rum singing "Flower of Scotland" until he passes out only to recharge for his sunset performance.  But then again, those with bionic eyes, which aren't real, would argue that even though their eyes are not real, the mirrors surly are.  Ever punch one?

I love Summer and Winter for different reasons but I'm gonna say Winter. I love snow, I love bundling up for the cold weather, I love getting inside and warm and having a girly mocha when I get in to warm up. Plus when Summer ends and we head our steady tread towards Winter I begin having the urge to exercise so by Christmas time I feel great about life and I'm usually healthier (until the meal that is!).

What's your favourite type of canned soup?

Tomato Soup.  One made with whole milk and not water based.  Only because you can team that up with a well made Grill Cheese.  Only made on Texas toast topped with a mild garlic butter.   The Cheese can be anything from a great Tillomock Sharp Cheddar, to a nice blend of Cheddar, Swiss, and Gouda.  Even a Mozzarella and Feta combo is nice.  Toast to a light or darker, golden brown.  Slice and server.  Great for summer days or winter nights.

If you had a friend visit.  What restaurant would you take them to for a local feel. Either for food, atmosphere or hot servers.

Do you prefer the city, suburbia, or out of the middle of nowhere nature life?

Probably in the order you mentioned for preferences! City - Suburbs - Naturey (bleugh!)

I need me some internets! Speaking of which, which ISP are you with, would you recommend them and what's your max speed vs actual? (e.g. 120mb/s advertised, 10mb/s actual)

Half Answer:
Comcast and with maybe 2-3 days of outages (over the course 3 years of service) it's been fine.  My impression service really depends on the location because "everybody" complains about any of the typical ISP's in the US.  I live in a relatively new area and I could easily see living in an old city could result in some iffy service.

But I'm at work, so I don't remember what my plan is or what is the actual typical speeds come out to be.  But it works fine for gaming and the streaming of the Netflix and Amazon Primes.

I didn't want to ask anything since I was only giving half an answer.

BUT IF YOU INSIST!

Does it get cold and snow where you live during the Christmas holiday season?  If not, does it seem weird that so many movies/TV shows present Christmas as a snowy holiday?

Shortly after posting that I heard about this. (http://www.theverge.com/2014/9/11/6135737/verizon-internet-tv-coming-mid-2015)  (Though it would have to be very competitive since I watch so little TV.)

We shall see.

Holy crapola, that is been quiet all this time.  kinda sad.  Quick.. CPR

Well, in the Pacific Northwest, where our sunshine comes in the form of liquid most of the time.  We have seen a While Christmas or 2 but most of the time, it's freaking cold, and the snow is mostly in the mountains.  Portland is know for a pretty mild winter with few major snow events.  in the 9 years here I have seen 3 major events where the snow was deeper than a foot.   But only last for a few days and melts away.  We don;t get the really deep, long running freezing events.

As for Why is it weird TV/Movies seems to always associate snow with Christmas.   Well, I feel it is a mental note of Norman Rockwell paintings about Christmas that has us always thing of both being together.  One of them American Culture kind of thinking that gives the rest of the world the impression that it has to be this or that to be the right kind of Christmas.   We are a society that feels if it ain't right, it ain't worth nothin'.   This Ideal for Christmas is not all bad, it just plain not the truth for most of the lower 48 in America.   Neverless, we strive to have a White Christmas and when one does happen, it becomes a very special on indeed.  Sing it like Ben Crosby.....

Halloween just passed and we are all on a Sugar high.   Do you celebrate Thanksgiving?  If no, is there a special holiday between Now and Christmas your country celebrates?  If YES, you planning a home cooked, away at relatives, or restaurant Dinner?

Can your tongue touch your nose?

Sadly, No.  I am unable to do such a task.  Which so very few in this world can do.   But with a odd task such as that, I am able do a few others that many do not have the ability to complete.  Such as:
Raise one eyebrow
Gleeking
Wiggle my ears
Curl my tongue
Tickle myself

No, I CAN NOT:
Lick my elbow
Stick My fist in my mouth
Or
Toot my own horn (see the SNL Wil Ferrell Yoga Skit on this one)

What did you have for Lunch today?  A picture would be great!   Please, before you eat the food, not after.

THREAD NECROMANCY!
In 2015 my goal was to move into a new house.
Goal accomplished. I am settled into a neat little house (though only renting... bank won''t allow a loan to buy the damn thing. I am happy for now)

My goal for 2016 is to build my mews and to get and start training a Harris Hawk.

How about you?

I had no goals in 2015. But I ended up quitting my job and following a life goal instead of doing my PhD. And I'm so much happier for it!

What are your 2016 goals?

What are your 2016 goals?

Well, 2016.  Let me check.  Well, I failed at my 2015 goals.  So that being noted.
1. Graphic Novel.  I really need to get my Starlines Graphic Novel inked and posted.  About time eh?  My art has suffered due to lack of ...practice.
2. Audio Drama: Brick by Brick was well received by several people I know.  I plan to get all of chapter 1 completed.  That will be 10 shows total.  So I have some serious editing to do.
3. With a new Computer comes new responsibilities.  Guess I need to organize all audio works I have done on their own drive and store it.  -A process I have already started.
4. Print my first book.  (COMPLETED)   Thanks to the help with Roxy.  We just printed our first book "What Pally am I"  Which looks amazing and expecting my copies to be in by Jan 27th.  **Thanks ROXY*  /hugs
5. SCOTLAND in August.  getting things together and planned for my Scotland trip in August to show my kids where the name MORTON comes from by visiting Castle Morton. Also to visit that crazy guy that lives there.  Whats-his-face.....yeah him

*Note these are personal goals.  Which I need to work around my Professional Work stuff goals.  Needless to say is going to be a VERY busy year at work!

With all the advancements that humans are making.   Which great advancement do you want to see in 2016.  Commercial Space Flight, A new Cure of some ailment, New laws passed, or something else?

I got one!

If you had the skills, tools and materials to make one awesome piece of costume, what would it be and why?

well, I always wanted a Water Bender from Avatar.  A Full chieftain look would be awesome.   Granted my skills in this area is pretty poor and honestly my time is limited.   I already do so much.    Maybe one day.  I could always spend a week at Waynes...he seems to have the resources to create some awesome stuff.

With 2018 on it's way.   Is there a place you want to go visit this year?  Why?

Kitten and I plan to go to Ibiza in the next couple of months, and planning to go to Tenerife for Christmas. I'm actually going to continue the same question since it's interesting - do you have any plans to visit anywhere this year?

Well, because you asked.  Nothing planned for anything big in travel this year.  But the planning starts for Spring of 2019 which will be a Paris trip for the family.   It's a long process, but look forward to the adventure.   Some of the days will be spent up in Normandy.  12 days total.

With the US launching a car into space for "the heck of it" what else would you like to see float through space?
