To be fair, I would be more worried had I been a Pompey fan. That is a really sad story unveiling. I have a friend who lives in Portsmouth and is fairly into football, so I do feel for him. And all Portsmouth supporters. It is no fun when your sport and your game becomes the playground for people who do not care for anything except to suck the supporter as dry as possible then leave the team in an untenable position.

So true and so sad. Im just trying to watch the games on TV before i know they will finally be relegated.

Tottenham Hotspur fan here (the team that currently plays at White Hart Lane which Octale mentioned in his show from, I dunno, a number of months ago). It's an interesting battle at the top of the Premier League at the moment, the run in is a lot closer than it has been for many years.

I would, however like to add my sympathy to Pompey fans. It's a damn disgrace when corporation and money gets in the way of a competetive sport. The only real losers here are the fans, and it's a disgrace that a team from arguably the biggest league in the world has been put in such a situation. I honestly hope that Portsmouth FC somehow survive this financial crisis and bounce back next season.

Hm, now why didn't I see this thread before?

Die Hard Benfica supporter here. Yup, the team that has a live eagle descend from the top of the stadium to a stand in the middle of the field to complete the team's symbol before every home game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_P834DFK0s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_P834DFK0s) - After we started doing that we actually started to win a lot more home games, can't stop now can we?

On the topic of money getting in the way of the sport I can only say its a sad state of affairs but nowadays football is a billionaire money printing industry where the chairmen, people in management positions, manager and players themselves rarely care for the team they defend as the supporters do, money being their top concern.

Gone are the days where the players were payed next to nothing and played for love of the sport and badge at thier chest. It gets even more depressing when players seem to make less of an effort in their national teams.

That's progress I guess...

That is the greatest pre-match tradition I've ever seen. We just don't get that sort of thing in the UK... I mean, we have idiots dressed in fuzzy mascot outfits, but nothing nearly as cool as this.

Okay ManU fans, I'm really sorry, but:

I'm a neutral  :P
Well, locally speaking there's only really the Wellington Phoenix, who aren't much good but aren't too bad for Australian league clubs.
For Europe I nominally support Fiorentina although since they're out now I'm backing Internazionale for the Champion's League even though it looks like Barcelona are going to steamroll everyone again.

Liverpool fan here.

Sad sad couple of years under Hicks and Gillette.  These guys are no better than conmen.

I am a huge Rafa Benitez fan but he looks to be on his way out.

I'm a huge football fan, support Celtic and Wigan Athletic. Bad season for both my teams, both being led by incompetant managers. At least Celtic got rid of Mowbry but it seems Martinez will be a Wigan a good while longer :(

I stayed up to watch that (despite being English) and... wow. Goes to show just what ze Germans are capable of up front. On that evidence they could well be contenders for the cup... although it is still, of course, early days.

Although now I'm going to rub salt into those still gaping wounds, just to annoy all the Aussies here...

Slovakia 1-1 New Zealand

The Kiwis are doing better than the Aussies! At a sport they're terrible at! Bahahahahahahaaaaa!
